The motivation of enhancing an O2-FET to a CV-FET derives from the possiblity of detecting other dissolved substances in the solution apart from dissolved oxygen while applying a voltage different to the well-known UNME = -600 mV. When used as a CV-FET a cyclic potential is applied to the NME while measuring the current (cylovoltammetry). By this means first investigations showed a dependance of the current IDS on the amount of KMnO4 in a solution (Eminaga Y., 2009). In 2012 results with hydroquinone / quinone were published (Eminaga Y., 2012).
